CALIFORNIA - Mile 59.5 - 82.4 // 22.9 miles
Now that the warm weather is really kicking in, I've been hiking with my umbrella up most of the time. It's made a world of difference keeping the sun from beating on my head and back. I've also been hiking in a long sleeved shirt to make sure I'm keeping the sun off.
Around mid-day I headed into the small town of Julian. One of the major concern out here is always having enough water. On the AT, water sources were everywhere for the most part. Of you accendently missed where one was located it was usually no big deal. Just walk a couple more miles and there another stream.
The PCT, however, is a totally different ball game. Missing a water source could get you into some very serious trouble. I met a hiker in Julian who had to have water airlifted to her because she didn't plan accordingly and found herself dehydrated, in the desert, far from any water source. Fortunately, she got the water drop and was able to make it to the next stop safely.
So in Julian, I was able to resupply on water as well as get a slice of pie from Mom's Bakery :) Then headed back to the trail to keep on walking.
After a long day of walking, I decided on a room with a view, no extra charge :)
