03: Skies are looking up

CALIFORNIA - Mile 41.5 - 59.5 // 18 miles

Happy Mothers Day!

For most of the day the trial followed a ridge which led to some spectacular views. The weather is improving, no rain today - yay! The AT and PCT are very different for many reasons one of which is that there are no shelters on the PCT. I typically didn't stay in the shelters, because my hammock was so comfortable, but I loved that they grouped people together. After a long day od hiking alone, it was nice to get to a camp ground and talk with other hikers. Out here, virtually anywhere can become a camp spot so people are much more spread out. It's taken some getting used to, but now I realize why everyone says that the AT is the social trail.

It looked like bad weather was coming in again but the clouds would disperse when they hit the warm air rising up from the valley below.
